About Course

This course is designed to equip Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and other Homecare Staffers with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide culturally competent care. The Cultural Competence and Sensitivity training aligns with OAC 5123-2-08 Appendix C: Training Requirements for Direct Support Professionals, it emphasizes the importance of understanding, respecting, and responding to the diverse cultural, social, and linguistic needs of clients and also ensures that home care professionals are prepared to deliver care that promotes inclusion, respect, and trust, while adhering to legal and regulatory requirements.

The final assessment is designed to evaluate trainees’ understanding of cultural competence and their ability to apply the knowledge gained in real-world caregiving scenarios. It aims to: 1. Reinforce Learning: Assess understanding of cultural values, beliefs, and practices, and how they impact care. 2. Promote Practical Application: Assess the ability to adapt communication and care to meet diverse client needs. 3. Verify Competency: Ensure trainees are prepared to provide inclusive, culturally competent care. A passing score of 80% or higher is required to demonstrate proficiency.
